The Basics
of Dental Implants
There are 3 basic components or parts when replacing a missing tooth: the implant, an abutment and a restoration. At New Smiles, we take care of you from start to finish.
For single implants, the surgery is relatively straightforward, lasting under an hour and requiring only a local anesthetic. You may drive yourself home. The site may be slightly tender, but you may return to your daily routine the next day. We will wait a period of months for the integration of the implant into your bone while you avoid eating on the implant site. You will then return for the final restoration (crown) and be able to chew normally.
Placing an implant to replace a missing tooth is important because it preserves the bone, gives you functionality and confidence when you smile.
With our in-house dental technology and the expertise of our dentists, you can enjoy the life-long benefits of dental implants.
