We are all aware of germs. They live in our environment and can be passed from person to person. With recent pandemic concerns, patients in the Sherwood, Oregon area have become even more familiar with germs and how infectious diseases can spread through the air, through saliva, and through blood. It is more important than ever, right now, that dental practices ensure they are taking the proper steps and precautions to not only protect themselves, but their employees and their patients from the spread of infection. At New Smiles Dental, we follow extremely strict protocols in our practice to reduce the risk of spreading infection between the individuals who visit our office—and those who work here as well!
How our practice disinfects regularly to ensure your safety and health
While our team has always followed necessary protocols to ensure a healthy environment for our patients, we have taken further steps to ensure patients are safe. Below are just a few of the steps we take to reduce the pass of infection between patients:
- Washing hands between patients
- Using new gloves and protective gear with each new patients
- Using high suction and barriers in the patient’s mouth during procedures
- Disinfection of all surfaces in the examination room
- Using disposable items including saliva injectors, bibs, and gauze
- Sterilizing instruments properly
- Using special medical waste containers for certain instruments and items used during procedures
Additionally, due to the spread of COVID, we are also putting in place other protocols, including:
- Reducing the number of patients in the waiting room
- Taking temperatures upon arrival
- Practicing 6 feet of social distancing when possible
- Using masks, and requiring them, for patients visiting our practice
- Rescheduling appointments for patients who do not feel well or have been sick within 2 weeks of their visit
